Our many roles and ministries within the Church’s liturgy follow the spirit and principles of Vatican II. Each parishioner is invited to consider serving in one or more of the following ministries. For more information, please contact the parish office, 816-537-6990.

Greeters

We are especially interested in providing parishioners and visitors with a sense of welcome as they arrive. Greeters also invite parishioners to carry the offertory gifts at each Mass. Individuals and families are invited to this ministry. Teens welcome. The schedule is flexible.

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion

Special ministers assist with the distribution of Communion at Mass. Some take the Eucharist to the sick and to shut-ins (see Outreach). Candidates must have received the Sacrament of Confirmation, and be able to attend a training program. Training is provided on an as-needed basis.

Lectors

Lectors proclaim scripture readings during the Liturgy of the Word at all masses, lead the assembly in Prayers of the Faithful, and make necessary announcements. Parishioners that are high school age and above are invited to serve. Training is provided on an as-needed basis.

Servers

The role of the Server is open to adults and children fourth grade and above. Training is provided and the schedule is flexible.

Ushers

Ushers assist with seating, take up the collection, and assist with needs during Mass. Men, women, and teens of the parish are invited to serve in this ministry of hospitality. The schedule is flexible.

Liturgical Environment Team (Church Decorating)

Parishioners prepare the worship space with fabric, flowers, and other objects to enhance liturgical seasons and rituals. New members are always welcome.
